Sept to March average bill was $43.00. Two people live in the house. April to current billing cycle range from $200-$364. I have not used my sprinklers within the last 3 months and my bill continues to increase. The Augusta Utilities service guy checked the meter and no problem was noted, i.e. "no water leaks." If I don't pay the bill my water gets turned off but since I have reported the problem there are delays in resolving the issue. According to Aug. Utilities, I have used approximately 294, 000 gallons, about half the size of an Olympic swimming pool. My meter only reads 67,500 gallons since I moved in (about one year ago). Whats the deal? Either there is grave incompetence or some one is pulling a Columbia County deal. Augusta Utilities you need to fix this ASAP!

I really wish that I could give this less than one star. We moved a few months ago from an area where all utilities were consolidated under the electric/gas company and didn't realize we would have to set up an account separately with the water/utilities department. At least the electric company down here mails you a notice if you fall behind with a payment. Evidently the water company just sneaks up to your house on a Friday afternoon, leaves a shady-looking pink flyer with instructions to settle by 4pm that day rolled up in your porch railing, shuts your water down and sneaks off again. If you're not lucky enough to see the flyer or realize you've been shut down in time to get to the office by 4pm, you're without water or sewage for the entire weekend, which for most families is unlivable. And when I showed up to the office - just after 4pm, because like most people I work - I was directed towards three desks of identically dead-eyed "customer service" representatives all echoing the same short, droning, catchphrases at everyone trying desperately trying to pay for their water and sewage for the weekend (including a young mother with children). There is a deep problem with this entire procedure that feels long-overdue for a fix. A local government is supposed to at least put forth a token effort to help its taxpayers; this just feels like a cruel trick, or like newcomers such as myself or maybe other households who fall behind in payments for a multitude of reasons are being deliberately punished! Nope, it's after 4pm despite our offices being open til 5pm, so you're grounded from water for a whole weekend, should've thought of that before you weren't aware of us/couldn't afford to pay us/fell behind, you naughty citizens. Hope you know how to dig a latrine! What a joke. Additionally, if the only services the customer representatives in that office are required to provide is passionate unhelpfulness, I want to know what that job pays and apply myself: you get a full-time government position and you get to be rude to people begging you for help, sounds like fun! Deep functionality problems in this "Friday afternoon rush and subsequent office refusal to accept payment" process. Can the electric company or some actual functioning service help them out? Because they need all the help they can get.
